So what were some of the popular songs in 1990? I went to a jukebox site and clicked on 1990. (Research is important.) 'How am I Supposed to Live Without You?' by Michael Bolton was on the list. Talk about memories...
I remember how jealous the men at work were over Michael Bolton. In my bedroom, I had a stereo with a 3-CD changer. It was probably 1993 or '94 actually. Occasionally I would put in something different to listen to; but as soon as it was over the other CD was put back in. This album was one of the three semi-permanent residents for quite a while. Yes, I was a hopeless romantic. Every night while lying in bed I listened over and over again to those same three CDs. What were the other two?.jpg)

I worked in a CD shop in the early 90s. I remember Color Me Badd was huge, as well as Wilson Phillips and Garth Brooks. I wasn't a country music fan but you couldn't escape "I've Got Friends in Low Places."
I'm totally stumped. Back in the early 90's I was working full time. The minute I got in the car on my way to or from work I turned off the radio/CD player. Driving gave me the peace and quiet I couldn't find at work or at home. It was only about 15 minutes at a time but I looked forward to it. My daughter was always blasting something out of her room back then but I don't recall any of it.
I'm thinking - I also liked Michael Bolton. In the early 90's I was running a business full time and had two young boys, husband and house. Those years are very blurry for me. That, in addition to my bad memory, leaves me with a great big blank.
But good for you on the writing break through.
Music is such an inspiration in my writing. I'm trying to remember back to the early '90s. I think I listened to a lot of country music back then, so I'd guess it was probably Garth Brooks. But Billy Joel will always be my favorite!
Ha,1990's...Michael bolton and Kenny G i was very much into.I love Jazz and my dad plays Jazz so Kenny was a favorite.
Once I saw the Righteous Brothers' album cover of Unchained Melody everything else vanished from my mind. I love that song.
I can't think of any particular nineties music I liked.
The 90's weren't my era. The house was vibrating to my children's music then. But the old songs do come with lots of memories attached and I agree with you that if you want to convey the atmosphere of a particular time the music is a good place to start.
Oh, I've never been a huge CD fan, but I do love listening to music.

LOL I think I quite listening to music in the 90's except for what we sold in the store. My daughter was about 6 going on whatever and life got in the way!
The 90's are hard for me when it comes to music. The words from songs do inspire me to write other things though and they can totally change my mood. Talk about the power of words!
