Sidetracked...

Or should I say kidnapped!  What am I writing?  Labels.  Yep, labels.  Oh, it takes lots of creative genius to come up with a label for an egg carton.

In case you don't follow my farm blog blahwg!, I'm talking about Mr J's chicken hobby.  My other blog documented our journey with his chickens.  In April, we became caretakers of seventy-five day-old chicks!  Now we sell eggs.  (For the record, birds are dirty, nasty animals.  I do not share his love of chickens. However, I am a farmer's wife, for better or for worse...)

Yesterday, I rode with Mr J to the local feed store to pick up 250 generic egg cartons.  So I spent the evening coming up with designs to his liking for the 250 cartons.  Between you and me, I think an agent is easier to please.  But now, here I sit with a stack of approved labels to cut and apply.

Liz, if you can hear me, I'll be there soon...

That sounds like a task I wouldn't want to take on. Maybe your mind will wander to new and awesome writing ideas while you are laboring away on the egg cartons.

You are a woman of many talents! Perhaps you can add "Descriptive Graphic Grocery Designer" to your resume.

What a lot of work. I like the name though. Mr J needs to get busy on that computer doing designs, then him and FIL can do some carton applications. Maybe you are allergic to egg cartons???

Next thing you know, you're going to be writing commercial jingles!

I think I'd rather write the labels than apply them to 250 cartons!

Blessings,
Susan :)

I enjoyed your 'egg carton' experience, I know you are busy, but if you find some time to spare, please answer a question on my blog: http://bittersweetbeata.blogspot.com

Your opinion is highly valued.

Wowzers! That's a LOT of chickens! And it sounds like a LOT of work! Hopefully not too much work for you, though!

Isn't it always the way, the shortest writing is always the most difficult. I hope those chickens learn some manners and start being nice to you.

Just don't agree to do catalog copy...that's worse than labels! You live pretty darn close to me...I should be heading your way to buy fresh eggs!

I love the name, how cool is that. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes having to put labels on 250 cartons however.

Yeah, chickens are smelly! My husband and his dad used to raise, sell, buy and show chickens-and other foul-when he was growing up and up til a few years after we got married in 1995. Never sold the eggs that I know of. My husband knows his feathered friends quite well. I tried to take in all that he would tell me about breeding them and how to know what characteristics to look for in each breed ect... ect...It was in his blood. But I am not and never will be a farm girl even though some of what he'd tell me was interesting. Good luck selling your eggs and writing your book.
